Design a Mascot winner Edward Smith

With just a month to go until the 2014 North Yorkshire School Games finals, Teddy the Terrier today made his debut as the official mascot for sport in North Yorkshire and the School Games.

Teddy's appearance at Cliffe School in Selby was to meet the talented young pupil from the school who had designed him as part of a school aged competition to design and name the new mascot.  Edward Smith, aged 10, from Cliffe School was selected by the judging panel to have the winning design and is pictured meeting the mascot and receiving his prize of a £50 Love2Shop voucher.

The winning designer, Edward, was very excited to meet the mascot and said "I wanted to choose an animal and a Yorkshire Terrier had Yorkshire in it's name.  I feel very proud that my design was chosen."

North Yorkshire Sport Chief Executive, David Watson, said "On behalf of the Organising Committee, we would like to congratulate Edward on his winning design and thank the school for encouraging their pupils to enter.  We look forward to seeing Teddy the Terrier out and about at the School Games finals.
